It’s EZ: GPS System Down To IT Or Political Hacks?

The answer to the WSJ article is “no.” That is, “Will We Be Ready if GPS Goes Down?”

I, for one, would NOT have made it from DC to Chicago in 12 hours to see my kid graduate on the various winding pikes & turn-pikes that rob motorists blind with tolls. And, why? Simply because the government bureaucracy is incapable of building & maintaining what President Eisenhower called our “essential national defense infrastructure” with the billions in (state & federal) tax dollars handed to it year after year after year …and, even though those “tolls” were “sold” to the American public on the premise it was to just “help pay” for the new super inter-connected highways…what they left off was the “pay forever & ever” part as well as “pay more & more” every “year after year until hell freezes over.” And then, you’ll find St. Peter (Schumer look alike) at the Pearly Gates demanding an EZ Pass instead of cash.

But, I digress. The WSJ’s columnist tells us the federal DOT “has ideas for a backup [to the nation’s vulnerable GPS system] because “hacking has never been easier.” You’ll recall the government being involved in the creation of the Internet that is quite easy to hack. Yet, our GPS “needs money from Congress” to “fix” the problem? Hold on to your EZ Pass, folks.
