Jerusalem Is Also Cradle of Christianity

As Hamas supporters tell Jews “Go back to Poland” & Israel shows ‘em what their “eye for an eye” means, does any one recall how Jerusalem was the Cradle of Jewish Jesus’ Christianity, which existed 600 years before Islam began?

The point: The Holy Land belongs to God & His entire world, not any one group. That’s why the WSJ commentary by Nathan Lewin “Go Back to Poland! Resonates With Me” might also resonate with folks trying to make sense of the current as well as historical chaos & human suffering centering around Rafah, Gaza. Historical context DOES matter. The anti-Israel chanters wanting a permanent end to the war echoed the fascists in 1937 when “fellow city councilmen shouted at my father: ‘Go to Palestine!” Well, WW II & the Holocaust followed, including the death of 6 MILLION Poles, Christian as well as Jewish. THAT is why the UN saw fit to create Israel & a supposedly safe haven for the world’s Jews who to this day are still subject to rampant antisemitism. The murdering of 1,200 Jews by Hamas last year was merely the ugliest manifestation of that bias. And, now, Israel is supposed to give Hamas a “safe haven” as a reward for their butchery?

Certainly, it’s been said by Jewish, Muslim & Christian theologians that “we are all sinners.” Israel has arguably made many mistakes in its handling of the Palestinian state effort, while showing much patience in responding to repeated violent attacks on its own existence. But, surely, common sense dictates that the solution starts with BOTH Palestinians & Jews recognizing one another’s “right” to exist. Maybe, then, it’s Back to the Future with Jesus saying from the Cross, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
