Jihadist Gets 30 For Attack On NYP

Finally an illegal immigrant was sentenced to 30-yrs in prison after his Jihadist-inspired 2020 stabbing & shooting of NYPD officers. Deportation awaits him down the road. Will “signal” alone be enough to deter others?

As reported by Fox News, US Dist Judge Rachel Kovner sentenced Dzenan Camovic after prosecutors argued he stabbed an NYPD officer in the neck, robbed them of their firearm, then used the weapon to fire on other officers (causing one officer to lose a finger) … as they were simply on Covid lockdown curfew patrol at the time and all the while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Brooklyn Dist Atty Eric Gonzalez told reporters, “It’s a miracle none of these brave officers were killed when they were ambushed, stabbed and shot by this brazen extremist.”

Camovic had pleaded guilty to three of the multiple assault charges against him. After he serves his sentence, he’ll be deported. FBI Asst Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll said the sentence sends a message to “anyone” who intends to carry out a hate-based attack, especially on the brave men and women who serve law enforcement – will face stiff consequences in our criminal justice system.” Yet, might we feel a bit more secure if such terrorists were more consistently caught before launching their hateful attacks because their law enforcement targets had been given more (rather than fewer resources) to do their jobs?
