Joe’s Brutus Turns Out To Be Joe
WSJ editors bemoaned “Biden approves $500M Ukraine” aid 11 days before Trump inaugurated, after earlier noting old man’s “Battered Legacy” was HIS own fault as he rushes wave of more bank-breaking yet pointless EOs at 11th hour.
As Dan Henninger summed the sad story up: “The debacle of the president’s final year in office was his conscious choice … [truth is], Jimmy Carter spent 45 years building a solid legacy following four years of an OK one-term presidency. Joe Biden is trying to cram his legacy redo into 45 days.” How many ways to count the avoidable or at least qualified debacle … and the reasons why a “legacy do over” won’t work for Joe as it did for Jimmy? Yet, consider how Biden has only recently “scheduled a ban on most gas-fired heaters that send hot water to the kitchen sink. He also waved forth a ban on oil & gas leasing in about 625 million acres of offshore waters surrounding the U.S. Against the recommendation of his national-security team, he stopped Nippon Steel’s proposed merger with U.S. Steel to preserve his legacy as the most ‘pro-union’ president ever, notwithstanding that many steel workers in Pa wanted the Nippon bailout. [Then] he commuted the sentences of prisoners on federal death row. [Might we also add that] In addition to George Soros & Anna Wintour, Mr. Biden last week gave the Medal of Freedom to RFK who died in 1968 & Lionel Messi, an Argentine citizen who has played soccer in the U.S. for little over a year.”
As Henninger concludes, “No matter how many executive orders Mr. Biden throws against the wall before Jan. 20 his legacy won’t be pleasant reading.” Joe has only himself to blame, first, by lying that he’d be a centrist, transitional, one-term president, then, doubling down on his growing infirmity & ability to win a second term, a choice that led to his ignominiously being forced to hand over the party’s reigns to an incompetent VP.
