Joe’s EV Plan Has Close Encounter w/Charger

The foolishness of Dems’ pushing EV switch immediately & at all costs is again illustrated by WSJ’s “Biden Plan for EV Chargers on Highways Meets Skepticism in Rural West” & suggests Don Quixote’s horse would neigh at it.

To put it politely, the paper concludes: “The US wants fast EV chargers on [every 50 miles of every] interstate, but ... states with miles of remote highway say putting chargers everywhere doesn’t make sense.” Well, putting chargers ANYWHERE is going to be a fiscal & maintenance challenge to the purveyors of Biden’s $5 billion federal funding to help jump-start a national EV-charging network. But, when it comes to the vast Great Plains & Rocky Mountain ranges, the realities become especially stark. Asks Rob Stapley, an official with Montana’s Dept of Trans: “Even if there’s an exit or a place for people to pull off … is there anything on the electrical grid at a location or even anywhere close to make that viable?”

Of course, EV charging stations are a must for any en masse switch to EV cars, which so far reps a small percentage of vehicles manufactured today (& in the near future or beyond). And, that beyond isn’t going to become the near future if drivers can’t be reassured “they can recharge quickly & won’t run out of power on the open road … Most EVs currently have ranges of around 300 miles or less. Fast chargers repower an EV in about 30 minutes.” BTW, interstate rest stops & gas stations with electrical service are “off the table” thanks to a law passed by Congress to protect their monopolies. Think EV drivers want to meet one of those blinking UFOs at midnight on US 55 like the one in “Close Encounters”?
