Joe Treats Venezuela Better ‘n Alaska?
Biden Adm stuns with admission in leaked memo that it rejected proposal to charge fossil fuel companies less to drill in Alaska KNOWING it would produce “greater energy security” for everyone in climate debate?
BTW: According to Fox News, the internal memo in question was “accidentally” leaked to it. The details include the following: “Former Bureau of Ocean Energy Mgt Director Amanda Lefton recommended late last year that, as part of its climate agenda, the Dept of the Interior move forward with higher royalty fees for an oil & gas lease sale spanning 982,202 acres in the Cook Inlet off the coast of Alaska” … “If a Cook Inlet prospect would be developed,” Lefton wrote, “there would be additional gov’t revenues & greater energy security for the State of Alaska, esp if development of natural gas resources in the Cook Inlet Ameliorated the long-term supply challenges facing the Anchorage area.” DOI Asst Sec Laura Daniel-Davis ultimately signed off on the recommendation.
There’s much more to the back and aftermath story. But, suffice it to say that the Biden Administration would go on to block the project anyway, as in May the White House cancelled the proposed auction & sale of what’s now known as “Lease Sale 258” as originally proposed under the Trump Administration and even though the sale was mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act. Said co-author of the IRA, Sen. Joe Manchin: “I am appalled by its contents, which make crystal clear that this administration is literally putting their radical climate agenda ahead of the needs of the people of Alaska & the US,” But, what did WVa Joe expect from the now you see it, now you don’t “deal” he made with WH Joe? As another pol noted, the WH Joe treats “Venezuela better than Alaska.”
