John Hopkins: Lockdown Policies Stop Covid Death Rate
Lockdown policymakers were fond of quoting John Hopkins U’s Covid-19 stats to justify their efforts but how about its study now finding lockdowns reduced mortality rate by .2% at best & suggesting they should be rejected.
In fact, the university’s study argued: “While this meta analysis [of numerous studies] concludes that lockdowns have had little to no [positive] public health effects [in either the US or Europe], they have imposed enormous economic & social costs where they have been adopted … In consequence, lockdown policies are ill-founded & should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.” As Fox News related, the researchers “analyzed the effects of lockdown measures such as school shutdowns, business closures & mask mandates on Covid-19 deaths. On the contrary, “studies that looked at shelter-in-place orders along with other lockdown measures found that shelter-in-place orders actually increased Covid-19 mortality by 2.8%.”
Researchers also reviewed “unintended consequences of lockdowns,” including rising unemployment, reduced schooling, & increased incidents of domestic violence & drug overdoses. For instance, they saw a 28.5% increase in drug overdose deaths from May, 2020 to April, 2021 & an 8.1% increase in domestic violence cases reported. Meanwhile, according to a Horace Mann survey, “about 97% of US teachers said that they students have experienced learning loss last year.”
