LA’s Masked Safe From Covid If Not Muggers?

Always Dreamin’ California’s mask mania still hasn't peaked after Bev Hills store bans them to stop robbers, an LA school calls the cops on a maskless 4-yr-old & LA b-ballers must suck cloth as they run up & down court?

Forget the never-ending controversy over whether masks “work”. Anyone hear of readily available vaccines? Consider, too, that even the CDC now admits young children are the LEAST likely to be harmed by Covid should they contract it. Still, the news reports from the West Coast over its ongoing mask mandates may seem crazier to Midwesterners than USC & UCLA leaving Pac 10 to join Big Ten. One boutique, in frustration over a spate of robberies, banned all customers from wearing Covid masks so they could ID the shoplifting thieves. Then, we learn from Fox News that critics have to point out to school & park district officials that forcing kids playing basketball on their courts is obviously freaking “dangerous.” But, wait, other critics in LA are “baffled” at school officials who called police to boot a tot out of pre-kindergarten class for them?

“My son basically looked like a PTSD victim,” the chastised kid’s father said. “He was inconsolable for 2 hours.” Another parent noted how it’s now ok for an adult to work without a mask at Google, but the same common sense still does not apply to the youngest Californians “when the fact is they’re least at risk from serious illness.” As the Momas & Papas said in the 1965 hit “California Dreamin,’” we’d all be “safe … if in LA.” Sure. Maybe from Covid, but not a masked bandit…
