Late Mail Ballots Stall Election Results

WSJ whines “It Takes Too Long To Count Votes” as we still don’t know who controls Congress after Tuesday midterms thanks to late mail ballots. Isn’t this fiasco why since 1845 federal law designated an Election DAY?

As History dot com explains: “Before [1845], states were allowed to hold elections any time they pleased within a 34-day period before the first Wednesday in December, but this system had a few crucial flaws. Knowing the early voting results could affect turnout and sway opinion in states that held late elections, and those same last-minute voters could potentially decide the outcome of the entire election. Faced with these issues, Congress created the current Election Day in the hope of STREAMLINING the voting process.”

Fast forward to our post-pandemic world and early voting mania. Notes the WSJ: “As of Thursday afternoon, the ballots were only 83% counted in Nevada & 70% in Arizona … These delays are a result of mass mail voting and they’re no good for public confidence.” You’d think in our “Computerized Era” vote counting would be easy-peasy. But, if anything, the inhuman hands on our elections is anything but …
