Left’s Childs Play Tries To Derail Black Sup Ct Nominee

WSJ notes in “Vetoing a Black Woman Judge” how Left is eating one of its own Sup Ct candidates just because she once was a company lawyer rather than a radical whatever. The irony is Judge J. Michelle Childs had been Dems’ unqualified choice for Obama’s federal trial bench & Biden’s Appellate Court.

Notes the editors: “A funny thing is happening on the way to President Biden’s first Supreme Court nomination. The opposition to one of the mooted black woman favorites is coming from the left, not the right … Media outlets have carried stories full of progressive criticism about Judge Childs, a federal district court judge in South Carolina whom Mr. Biden has nominated to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. President Obama nominated Judge Childs to the district court bench & the Senate confirmed her by a voice vote in 2010 … [Yet] … now come union interests complaining in the Washington Post Judge Childs is “a management-side lawyer … who has argued disdainfully against workers’ rights,” while 2 Dem Congressmen sent POTUS a letter arguing “for far too long, Sup Crt has been dominated by pro-corporate Justices.”

Of course, all good lawyers have argued for all kinds of interests, it’s their job. As the WSJ concludes, “It used to be considered uncouth to attack a lawyer for vigorously defending her clients .... The unsubtle goal is to elevate only those who have spent their career in government, academia, or promoting left-wing causes.”
