Lockouts & Failing Nation’s Report Card

As nation’s 4rth Grade Test Scores reportedly plummeted during the Covid pandemic, want still more proof the govt’s lockdown policies harmed youngest generation’s education & ability to function for years to come?

New data from the Education Department shows the “worst drop in math and reading scores in decades.” And according to the WSJ’s experts, “scores for worst performers could take decades to rebound and affect the economy in the future.” The scores released Thursday show “unprecedented drops on the long-term trends that are part of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, known as the ‘Nation’s Report Card.’” The tests are given to all US students age 9.

“I don’t think we can expect to see these 9-yr-olds catch up by the time they leave high school,” said Dr. Aaron Pallas, professor of Sociology & Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College. “This is not something that is going to disappear quickly,” esp. for the lowest performing students, many of whom happen to be minorities and/or living in impoverished families.
