Longevity Treatments In Local Gym?

Are today’s “longevity treatments” at the local gym worth it or a waste of money? Fitness centers are diving into antiaging with IV drips, peptide injections & infrared saunas. Docs aren’t impressed. Neither is this jogger.

The WSJ not only asked the above threshold question, but then also, asked, “Would you get blood work done at your gym?” Still, like it or not, longevity-focused treatments are being “embraced by a growing group of health enthusiasts” and, therefore, are coming to an ever-growing number of mass-market fitness centers. Some fitness brands, we’re told, are even adding or investing in clinics that offer weight-loss drugs. The newspaper notes “the push has the potential to bring once-fringe [aka just this side of quackery] treatments purported to fight aging further into the mainstream.”

Not surprising, the WSJ followed the money and found that “membership prices at any of these wellness centers range from roughly $90 to $380 a month, with [surprise] options for add-on treatments, on top of monthly fitness club memberships that can cost between $180 & $650.” Do the math and find that some of these enthusiasts are now paying over $1K a month in pursuit of staying young as well as fit. Or, they could pay zero like moi for jogging 24/7/365 in God’s inspiring nearby forest preserve …
