Mask & DEI Contagion Catch A Cold

Only cowards hide behind masks, which is why the college protesters do it. And, only fools believe all police, not all criminals, are the bad guys. Finally, one campus & one town get it. So, the nation still has hope.

The first bit of good news in today’s woke gone broke world is that the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill trustees voted to unanimously redirect $2.3 million in DEI funding to campus safety, i.e., in plain English, “REFUND THE POLICE.” As the WSJ editorial board noted, “Universities have made big investments lately in diversity, equity & inclusion or DEI and it hasn’t bought them much except divisiveness … Rancorous anti-Israel protests & rising antisemitism have put campus safety top of mind. Shoring up university police forces looks especially wise after some municipal police departments have declined to come to the aid of colleges that called for it.”

Meanwhile, in a separate op ed titled “Campus Protesters Unmasked, the paper’s editors reminded the world that “Anti-KKK laws are relevant against today’s antisemites.” As they explained: “Campus protesters may be enjoying the spring weather in their encampments, but in some states they will need to wave their Palestinian flags with masks off. In a letter to university presidents … Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost reminded them that the state has a law against those who use masks to disguise their identity.” So, maybe while woke mania has unfortunately been contagious ala Covid, so might common sense & the Rule of Law?
