Mickelson Joins Tiger’s Feet Of Clay

First we were disillusioned by the rumor philandering Tiger's wife had clubbed him with a 7 iron, now we learn Mickelson maybe left $40M in gambling losses on the table. So much for idolizing sports celebs with clay feet we all have, if not so much?

It's not that “Lefty” didn’t already have his image tarnished, perhaps forever, by being investigated for an insider trading scheme, then, trying to use Saudi money to fund a new “golf league” of stars and, thereby, challenge the PGA’s near-monopolistic grip on millionaires like himself. But, maybe, as Fox and a new unauthorized biography suggests, he needed the $30M (the London Telegraph says was deposited in advance into his checking account) to pay off some of those mounting legal and gambling debts (supposedly incurred from 2010 to 2014).

If power corrupts, well, doesn’t money as well? Recall Chicago Bulls’ immortal Michael Jordan’s allegedly having MASSIVE gambling losses before suddenly deciding he wanted to play baseball (poorly) for the Chicago White Sox. Did somebody make Mike an offer he couldn’t refuse? We’ll probably never know. But, we do know better than to idolize any of these “heroes.”
