Miracle Girl Hit By Car Defies Odds
As one who survived being hit by a speeding car, I can see why mom of 3-yr-old victim likewise devastated, but who defied the odds to miraculously survive, “leans into her faith” thinking God carried her & fam thru ordeal.
As Fox News reported, “Shaylie Edwards, now 6, suffered broken bones and a brain injury” three years ago, but today she’s somehow “a kindergarten graduate … amid her continuous recovery.” It took months of surgeries and years of therapies to get to this milestone. “This kid was just meant to do something amazing, Shaylie’s mom, Erica Edwards of Reno, Nv., told Fox. It was on June 6, 2019 that Shalyie had finished her last day of preschool and convinced dad to take her and sister Emma to a nearby park to play. Mom could hear a commotion from the home, looked beyond its backyard fence, and saw both Shaylie and Dad lying lifeless on the road. Later, it would be learned that the Dad had heroically grabbed Shaylie, but when the car hit him she lost his embrace of his daughter, who hit the hood of the car and flew 40 feet before landing on the pavement. The scooter helmet she happened to be wearing was “smashed to pieces.”
While dad wound up with 4 titanium plates in his face, Shaylie suffered a broken jaw in 2 places, a broken femur, a fractured sacrum & severe brain injury. While much progress has been made, Shaylie is still a long way from a full recovery, if ever she’ll be truly whole again. Still, mom Erica says she’s never stopped being determined to do “whatever it takes” to get her little girl’s life back. For others experiencing such tragedy, she says: “Have faith & believe that there’s a bigger purpose. Even if it doesn’t end up going positively … because there just is. There’s got to be something…”
