Mirror, Mirror: Saudi’s Great Skyscraper
While can’t blame Saudis for wanting to build skyscraper 10 times bigger than Great Pyramid for glory's sake, might they first apply some of their oily wealth to bringing its common people human rights & out of poverty?
To be sure, it took the West too many centuries to do its own half-a**** job in doing so and while such creative wonders as the Sistine Chapel and aviation made imaginations and airplanes soar. Yet, it CAN be done, if in fits and as so much more needs to be done. According to the World Bank & other sources, however, the world led by a wealthy Western Civilization, “has made huge strides in overcoming global poverty.” Since 1990, for instance, “more than 1.2 billion people have risen out of extreme poverty.” Yet, recently, the WSJ called attention to “Inside Saudi Arabia’s Plan to Build a Skyscraper [1,600 ft tall] That Stretches for 75 Miles.” We’re told “Designers of the [so-called] ‘Mirror Line’ propose two parallel structures traversing mountains & desert as part of a futuristic development to transform the kingdom.”
Inspired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the project “is expected to cost up to a trillion dollars & house about five million people” to be fed “vertical farming integrated into the buildings" & transported via hi speed rail. Oh, the very Western boat marina (in the desert?) & sports stadium (ala the Colosseum?) are key. What? No LIV golf course hosted by the NBA’s Charles Barkley? And, exactly who do you think will be chosen to live & work in Mirror Line? Any of the Kingdom’s estimated 2-4 million poor living on $17 a day and left behind now?
