Mom: Accused Waukesha Son Needed Shady Rest

The Waukesha Christmas parade alleged killer’s mom blamed a lack of mental health services on the tragedy & she may have a point that her chronically violent son needed to be “institutionalized” long ago.

Fox News used the “blame” game word in quoting her, but the 62-yr-old mom’s quote suggested a deeper analysis worth considering: “We are not making excuses, but we believe what has happened is because [my son] was not given the help & resources he needed,” she wrote in a letter to Milwaukee’s WDJT-TV. In the letter & in court documents filed so far, 39-yr-old Darrell Brooks suffered from mental illness & was on medication since childhood. Concluded the mother: “Institutions that are equipped & have trained staff is what was needed as well as resources in the communities where people who suffer with mental illness live … Jail is not the answer, because they get released back in society sicker than what they were when they entered. We all see what a tragedy that can turn out to be.” That being, of course, her son is accused of murdering a half-dozen innocents & running through dozens of others with his SUV (after allegedly running over the mother of his children earlier) … because the devil made him do it?

Note, the mother’s use of the term “institutions” and phrase “in the communities where people who suffer with mental illness live” may (ironically) not be well-received by the progressive community that insists upon the mentally unhealthy live in filthy tent cities or, if jailed, be let back into society after repeatedly committing violent crimes on easy or no bail ala her son. And, yet maybe mom knew her son best. Q: Did she try to get her son committed? If so, was she uttering a Sound of Silence?
