MSM Gaslights Public on DOGE Efforts

Some in the discredited MSM are now actually suggesting there is no fraud in gov’t, despite what everyone with a brain & good eyesight has repeatedly seen for years, let alone what DOGE has revealed in just 4 weeks.

As the WSJ article by Allysia Finley quipped, “Then again, they [MSM] also told us Biden was sharp as a tack & nothing was amiss at the border … now the same tribunes of truth in the press proclaim that gov’t fraud is a mirage – a pretext for Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to bulldoze vital programs. Mr. Musk [we’re told] ‘offered no evidence for his sweeping claims’ that officials ‘had approved money for fraudsters,’ as the New York Times reported on Feb. 11.” You can almost see Ms. Finley chuckling as she adds, Who are you going to believe? Reporters at the New York Times or other reporters at the New York Times.” She asked the question because at about the same time, “the Times reported that a Nevada woman pleaded guilty to filing more than 1,200 tax returns ‘t fraudulently claim Covid-19 tax credits of nearly $100 million,” which she allegedly used for vacations, luxury cars & luxury designer clothing from Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci & Louis Vuitton.”

Not to pile on the naivete of the NY Times, but it and countless other media outlets have reported how government investigators have struggled to keep up with pandemic related fraud. To boot, even Biden’s Small Business Administration had estimated $200 billion or at least 17 percent of its pandemic loans were awarded to “potentially fraudulent actors.”

Note, these same journalists ARE typically conceding that maybe there’s some “abuse or waste” in government, but not as much as Team Trump is saying. But, regardless, as Ms. Finley suggests, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the gov’t implemented controls to stop fraud” let alone waste & abuse before it happens? This is what DOGE is trying to do.” So, maybe “instead of the spin-masters gaslighting the public, applaud DOGE?
