NYC’s Noncitizens Right To Vote Voided

NYC’s lame attempt to give 800K “noncitizens” right to vote because (drum roll) state’s constitution only limited certain “citizens” from voting may rate “The Progressive BS of The Century Award.” State judge agreed, voided it.

As the WSJ editorial board opined: “Well, that was quick work. In December the New York City Council passed a law to let about 800,000 noncitizens vote in local elections. Mayor Eric Adams, man of action, neither signed nor vetoed the bill, allowing it to take effect. But on Monday a state judge declared it “illegal, null & void because it violates the New York Constitution.”

As it happens, the state’s constitution pointedly guarantees “every citizen” the right to vote so long as they are 18 years old & have lived in NY for 30 days. “Ah-ha,” the editors continued, advocates of the city’s bill argued at the time that “the constitution is silent about noncitizens,” therefore, they CAN be given the right to vote by this dreamed up legal slight of hand. Concluded the WSJ: “This is the kind of too-cute-by-half logic that gives the legal profession a bad name.” And, it is an “all in” reason why so few trust their politicians much more than the MSM.
