Only Short People Can Save Planet?
Now NY Times guest op ed argues “short people” are better for planet & suggest they might be mankind’s last best hope against extinction. Dunno. But do know my Soul Mate is shorter than me and easier to kiss …
You might recall how an earlier Times columnist advocated the “voluntary extinction” of humans in order to save the planet from starvation as well as global warming. Yet, Mara Altman’s essay went way beyond conceding that shorter people live longer according to the actuarial tables, yet doubled down on how they are key to conserving food & other resources on, yes, our otherwise doomed Mother Earth. She wrote in part: “The short are … inherent conservationists, which is more crucial than ever in this world of eight billion. Thomas Samaras, who has been studying height for 40 years and is known in small circles as the Godfather of Shrink Think, a widely unknown philosophy that considers small superior, calculated that if we kept our proportions the same but were just 10 percent shorter in America alone, we would save 87 million tons of food per year (not to mention trillions of gallons of water, quadrillions of B.T.U.s of energy and millions of tons of trash …”
Exactly. Yet, if the short-sighted Altman got her way, we’d have an additional gazillion short people on the planet to feed, water, keep warm & pick up after cause they’re so easy to kiss and so on …
