Ozone Layer Fear No Longer A Black Hole?

Earth’s Ozone Layer has thickened by almost 12% & may be almost completely healed by 2066 as damaging airborne chemicals decline, say UN scientists, thereby helping protect life & slowing climate change? God’s hand here?

Actually, at this rate, the ozone layer may be rebuilt in some regions by as early as 2040. And, besides Divine Providence, the WSJ says, give an assist to the welcome if belated abatement from ozone eating CFCs or chlorofluorocarbons & factory pollutants, which are known to damage the key layer 9 to 18 miles above the earth since scientists noted a growing hole circa 1980. Most recently, the most damage is believed to have come spouting out of northeastern China’s factories, i.e., until the global community got on that country’s back, as well as from devastating Australian wild fire smoke in 2019 & 2020, which could yet ignite at any time somewhere else.

Not to pop the Champagne cork just yet, but the scientists who wrote the study published last week assured their findings are a bit if not a big bite of good news for the planet as well as skin cancer patients everywhere. “This is the basic measure of success,” said Dr. David Fahey, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s chemical-sciences laboratory in Boulder, Colo., and co-chair of the panel that wrote the report. “The abundance of all of the principal ozone-depleting gases and their emissions have peaked and now they are coming down.”
