Pinocchio Joe Out Does Tokyo Rose?
WaPo finally gives Biden a “Bottomless Pinocchio” for mouthing several misleading claims “over 20 times,” including on Social Security benefits, reducing gas prices & even bromance with PRC’s Xi.
“Folks, I spent a lot of time – more time with Xi Jinping than any other head of state … I’ve traveled 17,000 miles with him,” the president most recently said on Nov. 3 in San Diego, as well as more than 20 times counted on other occasions. According to the Post fact-checker, however, the claim was, is and may always be bogus. Another fact-check debunked Mr. Biden’s claim those on Social Security were getting a big increase in pay thanks to him, not the COLA law that has given pay raises to seniors every year since the law was passed in 1972. And, the president’s insistence on the campaign trail that gas at the pump was over $5 a gallon when he took office but has declined $1.25 since, is simply wrong when the reality is that the national average of a gallon of gas is NOW over $5, more than double the average price of $2.39 the day he became POTUS.
Way back in 2021, WaPo had already if reluctantly given Mr. Biden “four Pinocchio's” for saying “The Second Amendment was never absolute.” In recent months, he’s repeated the claim, adding in June, “You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed. You couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weapons.” Suggested Wa Po: Er, Mr. President, yes, you could.
