Presidential Power Takes Bribery, Censorship?

When you can’t articulate a coherent policy that isn’t inexplicably self-defeating like the mandated elimination of your grandfather’s washing machine, all you got left to get votes is political bribery & censorship. Enter Joe.

Two recent WSJ columns said as much. Daniel Henninger was particularly compelling in his piece titled, “Joe Biden’s 2024 Election Bribes,” which details how “the president is using the US Treasury like a 1920s party boss’s safe.” It’s not that election year largess hasn’t been around since the founding of our nation – hell, George Washington used to ride his horse from Mount Vernon to Alexandria for the soul purposes of bribing, er, influencing voters with free flowing brewskies. BUT, says Henninger, never has “election politics seen spending on such a massive scale for the sole purpose of producing votes.” Then, there’s the insightful op ed by the paper’s entire editorial board in its “Democracy Dies in Silence” that calls out “Democratic states passing laws that are [veiled] gag orders on employer speech.” Oh, as usual, the proponents of the gag orders that cover workplace politicking, i.e., by corporate aka Republican bosses, justify it on the ground they want to stop “worker intimidation.” Never mind there’s no such effort to prevent “worker intimidation” by their leftist union bosses who are often foisted upon them.

That’s where President Biden comes in. His most recent public appearances clearly establish that he even has trouble reading his handlers’ speeches from the teleprompter, while his policies repeatedly look like blatant attempts to buy votes for the sake of keeping power rather than a fair, even-handed public good. But, to boost Mr. Biden’s chances, it also takes the help of allies in the MSM & local gov’ts in the big cities. Enter the blue state censorship initiatives.
