Quiet Quitters aka Slackers Still 50% Drag?

Mike Rowe told Fox News “work has become the enemy” to help explain chronic labor shortage AND Gallup Poll confirms “quiet quitters” aka old-fashioned “slackers” now make up HALF US work force. Yet, what’s new, Bunky?

Apparently, WSJ coverage says, “young professionals surveyed said they were the most disengaged.” Moreover, we’re told, “a big source of tension” was all about “returning to the offices” after the pandemic could no longer be used as an excuse for slacking.

On the other hand and if I recall, weren’t about half of my fellow professional workers “disengaged” when I was with them in the office all those years? “Griping” was even more rampant. Rowe, however, brought us up to date as the woke era has unfolded and added its own special touch to getting paid for the least amount of work possible: “It’s not what happened, it’s what’s been happening for the last 20 years,” Rowe began his rant. “We, I think, are in this pattern where we’re not really happy unless we identify something as the enemy, not as a problem to be solved, but as an existential threat. Cops, right? It’s not enough to reform. We have to defund. Education. It’s not enough to encourage people to advance through the higher ranks. We have to do it at the expense of all other forms of education … work, then, has become the enemy … job satisfaction is now a thing that relies entirely upon the job and not upon the person. All of these things have combined to make work fundamentally unattractive.” Dunno. Wherever I’ve worked, work has seemed fundamentally unattractive to the poor slobs wallowing in their paychecks beside me and my desk.
