Rising Dental Bills More Pain In A** Than Tooth

The WSJ’s “When You Need a Loan to Get a Root Canal” hit a nerve about rising costs for the uninsured. “Americans often have to take out personal loans or dig into savings to pay for dental care” while “millions are skipping the dentist.” The article focuses on “niche” insurance plans that might help some, but …

Even those WITH dental insurance need Novocain when they see their rising premiums & deductibles. While President Biden’s mega-trillion dollar reconciliation bill proposes to help the rich, illegal aliens & drug addicts, an early version “would have given [first time] dental benefits to [at least] people on Medicare, but that measure has since been dropped from a pared-back version.”

It’s clearly a conundrum facing more and more folks, insured or not insured, as inflation adds to the pain by taking off as well. I know, having recently been to the dentist for a the “grand slam”: cavity filling, root canal, crown & tooth implant. Think $250 + $500 + $2K + $5K.
