Schumer Cries He’s Not Yet Begun 2 Fight 4 Power Grab
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was defiant after his power grabbing attempt to federalize all elections failed, promising to carry on his good fight “for democracy” with a new game plan leading up to the 2022 mid-term elections. Wasn’t delusional if not wishful thinking what got his party in free fall?
Mr. Schumer’s counterpart, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, fired back saying the Dems who “control” the Senate & voted to kill the traditional filibuster rules just to be able to cram through their election wish list would have “shattered the soul of the Senate for short-term power … Fortunately, a bipartisan majority saved the Senate & ensured that millions & millions of Americans’ voices will not be silenced” by a temporary majority.
His new plan details were not made readily available. But, if Mr. Schumer’s “long view” has a whiff of a chance of succeeding, he’d better hurry before the mid-terms get here and he loses his paper thin majority in the Senate (thanks only to the Dem VP’s 50-50 tie breaking vote). Both Democratic Senators Manchin & Sinema who voted with 50 GOP senators to quash the Biden-Schumer-Pelosi election federalization bill reiterated earlier views, consistent with McCarthy’s, that an end to the filibuster would hurt, not advance democratic debate and a federalized election scheme would further erode trust in the already much criticized electoral process.
