Scorsese’s Miraculous Series on Saints
Too seldom these days the entertainment industry gives us jewels to feast on. Case in point: Scorsese’s “History’s Boldest Saints” series on Fox Nation. The legendary filmmaker had thought only a miracle could bring it about. Oh, ye of little faith.
Believe it. Martin Scorsese’s docuseries will be exploring the “lives & legacies of eight bold Saints: “A wrongfully accused girl burned at the stake; a man twice sentenced to death by a merciless Roman emperor; an apostle beheaded at the whim of a vengeful queen; a Franciscan monk, who sacrificed his life to save another at a Nazi death camp …”
The global premiere has already happened on Thursday at the Whitby Hotel in NY City and the Godfather director confessed: “I didn’t believe it could be done.” He explained to the audience that his pet project had initially been conceptually launched 7 years ago, although he “always wanted to make” it onto the screen. “I grew up practically living in the St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral downtown, contemplating, meditating those statues of the saints and wondering about their stories.” He had wondered, “What is a saint? Is it something superhuman? Can they achieve something easier than we can because we’re human beings?” He came to the conclusion: “No. The point is they’re human.” It promises to be another bold classic.
