Should Israel Be Slaves To Hamas Terror?
Slave holders in US Civil War & Holocaust Nazis were given one order for end game terms by Lincoln & FDR: “Unconditional Surrender.” Should Israel’s terms for Hamas in Gaza be the same? A columnist thinks so …
The WSJ’s op ed penned by Jerome Marcus argued the point this way: “Israel needs to declare the precise goals of its Gaza campaign – for its own citizens & soldiers & to establish the credibility of its efforts in the world’s eyes. The [stated] ‘destruction’ of Hamas has no meaning in international law & is too vague for Israelis being asked to sacrifice everything. History provides an example of what Israel should do.”
Of course, Mr. Marcus was talking about how the WWII Allies demanded an unconditional surrender from the Nazis & suggested Hamas was no better in terms of “war crimes” & “depravity.” He might have also invoked Lincoln’s top general for plainly telling the Confederate Armies led by Gen. Lee during the American Civil War exactly what to expect from their fight for the sin of slavery (as well as independence) when the fighting one day inevitably stopped. Why else would the Confederates have taken seriously Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation or any promise short of a “negotiated” settlement that went back to the old “status quo”? Likewise, why should Hamas, let alone any of their allies and/or enablers world-wide, take Israeli PM Netanyahu seriously about “eliminating” the terrorists who have vowed to terrorize the Jewish state until it was wiped off the face of the earth? That is, after the terrorizing “cat & mouse” game that has gone on between Hamas & Israel for decades now?
