So, When Will Arctic Become 52nd State?

Looks like Russian & China are “winning the race to dominate the Arctic” & that might help explain Trump’s aggressive interest in Greenland & jumpstarting Alaskan economic development, as well as wanting Canada as 51st state. But, is that all there is to it?

As the recent WSJ article noted, “Things in the Arctic have never been hotter. In the past year, Russian nuclear submarines have practiced firing cruise missiles near NATO members Norway, Finland & Sweden. That drill followed Arctic wargames by NAtO that included amphibious assaults in the frigid seas. When Russian & Chinese bombers flew together north of Alaska in August, [GOP] Senator Murkowski described the move as an ‘unprecedented provocation by our adversaries.’ The following month, Russia & China sent patrol boats through icy waters of the high north.”

Of course, just look a global map to see why Russia & China want to freeze the US & its allies out of the Arctic. As the WSJ explained, “The US & Russia are only 53 miles apart across the Bearing Strait, near the Arctic Circle” & Communist China’s northernmost boundary abuts Russia & its eastern coast. Trump & his national security advisors can also read a map. So, don’t be surprised if the Arctic itself doesn’t get claimed by US to be its 52nd state within the next 4 years.
