Soul Food: Week of December 26, 2021
“Soul Food” is a regularly updated calendar of meditations sometimes questioning conventional wisdom & often suggesting eternal values...
Sunday: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame. Isaiah, Peter.
Monday: The prophet Isaias had predicted the name of the Son of God would be Emmanuel, which means ‘God with us.’ He also said the Messiah would be called the Prince of Peace, God the Mighty, Wonderful, Counselor & Father of the World to Come. The only name in which all of these meanings are embraced is Jeshua or Jesus. Jim Bishop, The Day Christ Was Born
Tuesday: Years ago, we used to think of the Heavens as ‘way up there.’ Then one day the God of the Heavens came to this earth, and that hour when [Mary] held the Babe in her arms, it became true to say that with her we now ‘look down’ at Heaven. Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Wednesday: After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea ... Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew
Thursday: Maybe the meaning of life comes down to whether one was, is & will be pleasing to God.
Friday: If you weren’t doing what you’re doing what would you be doing?
Saturday: The U.S. Senate is like high school but nobody ever graduates. Sen. John Neely Kennedy
