Soul Food: Week of February 12, 2023
“Soul Food” is a regularly updated calendar of meditations sometimes questioning conventional wisdom & often suggesting eternal values
Sunday: Tell me, why do we require a trip to Mount Everest in order to be able to perceive one moment of reality? Wally, in My Dinner with Andre
Monday: We’re just going around all day like unconscious machines & meanwhile there’s all this rage & worry & uneasiness just building up inside us. Wally
Tuesday: Things don’t affect people the way they used to. Andre
Wednesday: Remember that moment when Marlon Brando sent the Indian woman to accept the Oscar & everything went haywire? Things just very rarely go haywire now. If you’re just operating by habit, then you’re not really living. Andre
Thursday: Well, why do you think that is? I mean, is it because people today are lazy or just bored? Wally
Friday: OK. Yes, we are all bored now. But has it ever occurred to you, Wally, that the process which creates this boredom that we see in the world not may very well be a self-perpetuating unconscious form of brainwashing created by a world totalitarian government based on money? Andre
Saturday: And that all of this is much more dangerous than one thinks. And it’s not just a question of individual survival, Wally, but that somebody who’s bored is asleep, and somebody who’s asleep will not say ‘no’. Andre
