Suburban Macy’s Now Migrant Magnets?
You can run from crime riddled big cities to their affluent suburbs like Chicago’s Oak Brook, but you can’t hide the brand clothes at Macy’s from some migrants holding down day jobs as thieves …
The Fox News story related how “six migrants from Venezuela & Chile stole over $10,000 from Oakbrook Center’s Macy’s store in two separate retail thefts. Having lived in the area for many years, trust me when I say the shopping mall & district where this bold thievery took place used to cater to the crème de la crème of the city’s nouveau riche. Now it apparently caters to migrants who know what the crème de la crème means from cutting the mall customers’ lawns. This particular Macy’s had been plagued with a string of such thefts & burglaries by migrants in recent months, we’re told, & the store finally got pissed enough to say, “no mas.” In perhaps the understatement of the year, Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said in a written statement (in English, not Spanish, the migrants could grasp), “I believe that six felony arrests in one day illustrates that migrant criminal activity is a real problem.”
Well, Chief Strockis, expect the ACLU to be contacting you about a lawsuit they’ll dream about your take on migrant affairs. Yet, as Fox quotes from a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office release, “In one case that occurred just before 6:30 Pm, a 20-yr-old & 34-yr-old … allegedly removed anti-theft devices from merchandise with a magnet they had taken into the store. The Chilean men allegedly stuffed 54 items into two suitcases they had taken from the luggage department, costing nearly $10,155." Police were waiting outside the store when the two men forgot to pay before exiting. Officers had earlier responded to another group of Venezuelan men & women who were charged with taking $927 worth of merchandise from the Tommy Hilfiger section & trying them on for size before also forgetting to pay for the stuff.
