Swedes Throw Hat In Nuclear Energy Ring

Sweden joins France & ignores Germany in touting nuclear energy as remedy to Russian dependence, high prices, carbon toxicity & limits of green alt-energy? Will world follow as more folks live in denser urban centers?

As Fox News noted, “European nations remain divided on the value and use of nuclear energy,” especially as real time heating crises keep popping up. EU energy prices have soared due to sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine and as Moscow reacted by reducing its gas supplies to Europe, including indefinitely shutting down its Nord Stream 1 pipeline. In near panic mode, France is turning to nuclear power plants again while Germany refuses to go that route on, well, ideological grounds. Yet, Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tobias Billstrom, recently said his country has no practical choice in the debate because it simply asap needs “safe, clean, secure energy” that’s relatively “cheap.”

If even a small nation like Sweden feels that way, what will the rest of the world? Especially, as the global population now exceeds 8 billion, while the lion’s share of people are increasingly being concentrated in a relatively few metropolitan areas that must likewise need “safe, clean, secure energy” that’s relatively “cheap”?
