Teach Just “Wanted To Shoot Some Students”
Give these Florida school district officials an “A” for incompetence? That is, after allowing a teacher to work for weeks after allegedly saying she “wanted to shoot some students”?
BTW, according to Fox News, Florida deputies would eventually find “three handguns & ammunition at the teacher’s home.” The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office told a Fox affiliate looked for the weapons after she had told her middle school assistant principal in late March she was “having bad thoughts,” etc. etc. A school resource officer was clued in, went to see the teach who supposedly said she was just upset because she had “learned about a social media post where people were talking negatively about her sexual orientation.” And, oh, the counselor was supposedly told she had “suicidal thoughts,” before alerting him to her handguns at home & suggesting some of her students might make for target practice “due to them not performing to their ability.”
The teacher, we’re told, “immediately” took back the statements & promised to “never harm a student” or herself. Uh-huh. Understood. Amazingly, the teacher was initially cleared to return to the classroom after a “threat assessment protocol was followed”. However, upon learning more about the incident from the sheriff’s office several days later & a court issued a “Risk Protection Order”, the school district’s superintendent finally removed the teacher from “all student contact” & said a return date will be determined based on a further “investigation.” Parents at the school were reportedly still upset. Any wonder why?
