Terrorists’ Inevitably Terrorize Selves

Henninger says Hamas in Israel & Putin in Ukraine, killing innocents is now part of the plan. Yet, Just as West often naively courts terrorists, terrorists always over play their ugly playbook … Is Hamas & Putin headed way of ISIS?

The WSJ columnist framed his insight in “Killing Civilians: The New Normal” this way: “The most noted aspect of Hamas’s attack on Israel is its fighters on the ground explicitly targeted Israeli civilians for killing. Israelis were shot while driving along the street. They were pulled from their homes & killed. Hamas carried out the mass murder of some 260 people at the Tribe of Nova music festival. The reaction of any normal person to these scenes, esp because the images are put on screens by the hour, is horror. [Mr.] Biden called Hamas’s attack ‘sheer evil.’ True. But that suggests an event falling outside our daily experience, a rarity. No longer. The moment has arrived to recognize that for the adversaries of the free world, killing innocent civilians is the new normal.”

Yet, in a way, wasn’t Mr. Henninger’s “new normal” upon the free world AND its terrorist adversaries long ago? Consider 9/11 & its aftermath. How’d that turn out for bin Laden & his terrorist organization? For that matter, think ISIS’s “Islamic State”. Where’s it now, again? If Vladimir Putin was using their campaign of terror on civilian targets as a “model” for his invasion of Ukraine & targeting that country’s civilian population, do the Ukrainians look cowered? For all the talk by such bullies about their interpretation of history is on their side “in the long run”, they surely don’t seem to be keeping score very well. And the long & short of it for Hamas right now as the Israelis mass on the Gaza border, it’s safe to say THIS LATEST TERRORIST OUTRAGE is not going to turn out well for them. At least, PM Netanyahu promised as much, saying something like, “like ISIS, we will crush them.”
