The Clean Fuel Startup “Money Pit”
As “Booming Electricity Demand Is Stalling Efforts to Retire Coal & Gas,” the OTHER green mania reality is that “Clean Fuel Startups Were Supposed to Be the Next Big Thing … Now They Are Collapsing.” Believe It Or Not!
As the two WSJ articles suggested, it was entirely predictable that Joe & Kamala’s precipitous mandated ban on fossil fuel energy, which still supplies the lion’s share of the power needed to keep the lights on, was not only going to create shortages as well as outages, but its ugly cousin, hydrogen & biofuel projects to replace it, was going to become “money pits.” Moreover, the paper notes, “Startups promising to power planes, ships & trucks with clean fuel are sputtering before they get off the ground, showing how hard it will be to wean many industries off oil & gas.”
Cases in point: “A company backed by United Airlines that raised hundreds of millions of dollars to turn trash into jet fuel appears to have shut down. Another, backed by Airbus, JetBlue & GE Aerospace, that was working on using hydrogen to power planes went bust. Chevron, BP & Shell, meanwhile, are scaling back projects to make biofuels from cooking fats, oils, greases & plant material.” And, how many economists have pointed out that the more green energy gets subsidized with taxpayer money the more fossil fuel energy will be needed to make that alt energy happen, thereby cancelling out much if not all of the promised environmental benefits we were to get?
