The Rock’s Conscientious Snicker Attack
Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says he bought every Snicker at the Hawaii 7-Eleven to “right the wrong” of having stolen the candy every day when a poor 14-yr-old. Honor & honesty as well as conscience still lives?
The news published by Fox Business hit home as I recalled having slipped a Snickers bar into my pocket as a poor 4-yr-old and from a South Side drug store’s candy counter when nobody was looking. As I was walking out the door from the crowded establishment with my mom, I for some reason started screaming bloody murder. “Sush! What in the world is the matter with you?” my embarrassed mom scolded, then, demanded. Stunned at my own inexplicable hysteria, I showed her the Snickers bar I had just pilfered. Taking my hand firmly, my mom marched me back to the candy counter and told me to apologize to the clerk there, which I did with a sheepish, “Soorrry.”
The point is, where would we be in this world if not for our God-given conscience and the good parental upbringing our God gave us?
