There IS A Time To Die After All?
Ain’t it refreshing in our woke society how more doctors are finally saying you can die of old age? In Japan, we’re told it’s the No. 3 cause of death & Queen Elizabeth’s passing is prompting discussion of term’s appropriateness …
The WSJ story noted how “in announcing that Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at age 96, Buckingham Palace didn’t give a cause” or whether she “suffered from a particular fatal ailment.” Yet, the reporter added, “the circumstances pointed to a debate that has been growing in Japan, one of the world’s most aged nations.” Isn’t the key question when a very old person dies without any obvious trigger, then, “should doctors try to come up with a cause? Or, is it acceptable to say that the person died of old age?”
The story’s main point was that doctors are “increasingly going with the latter” and that “old age” as a cause of death is gradually being accepted as the No. 3 COD after cancer & heart disease. In our “science is everything” culture, it’s hard to admit “it was just the decedent’s time to pass.” But, isn’t it somehow more calming, reassuring that the Biblical reminder “There is a time to be born and a time to die…”?
