In the wake of a sniper’s attempt to take out Donald Trump at a peaceful Butler Pa rally, former AG Bill Barr was right on as well when he bluntly said, “The Democrats need to stop the grossly irresponsible talk ... calling Trump an existential threat to democracy … He is not.” Of course, the same appeal goes to toning down the personalized rhetoric by Trump against Biden. For the first time, President Biden reacted to the assassination attempt on Trump by calling it “sick” and for the first time promised to call “Donald.” It struck me: “Yes, when you call a man or woman by their real name and not a WWII war criminal, it does make a difference.” The two men reportedly talked yesterday afternoon for the first time in years. Good start.

It's the issues, comrades. Maybe everyone should fly the flag through the November election to show Lincoln’s Civil War messaging got through our thick skulls.
