Time to Give Flip Finger Its Due?

You need a middle more than index finger since the flipper can work with thumb & palm to cover basic tasks like writing, raking leaves & international signing. Found this out when flip finger was taken out of commission …

That’s right. The epiphany came to me when I felt the pain of bleeding blisters on my middle finger while raking leaves, then, staining a new wood deck last week. A-ha! THAT was the digit that took the brunt of pressure on the hand. And, the blistering made it nearly impossible to continue working for days to come … the darn blisters wouldn’t heal since the scabbing kept getting torn open every time I used my hand to do just about anything, from making my wife a sandwich to picking my nose.

In an abundance of caution, I consulted with Alexa to determine whether I was on to an evolutionary insight worthy of being shared on Elon Musk’s new and improved Twitter. And, she confirmed that “the middle finger is the most important contributor to grip strength” in humans, although we might add that monkeys (and their cousins, the human politicians) do have extra-long index fingers so they can better swing on trees and count other peoples’ money. Jus’ sayin. (Ok. A fact check might challenge the cheap shot at pols.)
