Touch Of Evil Off Devil’s Slide Cliff?
California cops say a man intentionally drove Tesla off “Devil’s Slide” cliff with his wife & 2 kids inside. Callers to popular DC radio show mocked him as probably pissed all survived 300-ft, roll-over crash. Sick jokers? Pure evil man?
Recall M. Scott Peck’s “Glimpses of the Devil” & “People of the Lie,” in which evil is said to really exist. And, if this report doesn’t potentially qualify as evil, what does? Fox News says “after talking to witnesses & gathering evidence,” California Highway Patrol arrested Dharmesh A. Patel of Pasadena on suspicion he “attempted murder & child endangerment.” They are still trying to determine a motive. Meanwhile, CNN & ABC say the unidentified victims were, indeed, the 41-yr-old man's wife & kids. The police ruled out a mechanical car failure or tech flaw. Upon responding to a 911 call when arriving at the Pacific Coastal Hwy scene, the officers saw some “movement” in the crumpled car nearly 300 feet below at ocean’s edge. “We go there all the time for cars over the cliff & they never live … This was an absolute miracle,” said Brian Pottenger, battalion chief for the local fire dept. Firefighters “rappelled down the cliff while another was lowered from a helicopter” called in to assist “amid rainy & windy conditions.”
The 1st responders had to use “jaws of life” to cut a 4-yr-old girl and 9-yr-old boy from the back window, while the two adults were hoisted and sent to the hospital with multiple & serious injuries. It’s important, as always, not to rush to judgment and some of the wild theories in various media, including those expressed on a DC talk show Wednesday morning, should be treated with due skepticism. But, in any event, take it from M. Scott Peck, evil can touch us.
