Troops’ Toothless Critics Pissed Their Pants

Never mind that the US military DRUMS “duty, honor, country” into its troops’ psyches, it took an indie study to put to rest if not shame any notion of “Military’s Phantom Extremists” & another false media narrative.

As the WSJ editorial board recently reported: “Good news: The US military isn’t packed with violent extremists. That’s the gist of a new report commissioned by the Pentagon in 2021 & released quietly with little notice in December. The result won’t surprise Americans who have spent time in uniform, but it should calm the media frenzy about right-wing radicals in the armed forces.” As it turns out, the think tank, Institute for Defense Analyses, having been tasked with investigating reports that some service members participated in the Jan. 6 riot … “found no evidence that the number of violent extremists in the military is disproportionate” to US society.

The IDA’s finding was certainly no surprise to this dad of two sons who chose to serve their country in uniform. Dozens of their comrades I’ve met & gotten to know somewhat struck me as being just as committed to the Rule of Law as the average citizens they serve, if not more so … and, with precious little thanks for that service. But, it would be nice as well as appropriate to hear a belated acknowledgement of the truth from their defanged detractors who foolishly tried to discredit their sacrifice & mission.
