Trophy Trees All The Rage As People Starve In China?

Could the WSJ’s piece on “trophy trees” being the “newest status symbol for wealthy homeowners” make even a Die Hard conservative want to become a progressive long enough to tax the hell out of them?

As the newspaper noted, “in search of the perfect garden, the super rich are paying upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring in huge old trees by helicopter, barge and flatbed truck.” In one cited instance, several Got Rocks purchased the houses next to theirs just so they could tear them down and build a bigger garden. And, meanwhile, Joe Biden’s hungry migrant kids stacked up at the U.S. border with Mexico are lucky to go to bed tonight with a Happy Meal?

While the WSJ article focuses on one booming tree broker’s business in a wealthy region of South Florida, it notes the trophy tree craze is “national.” It is getting so heated, in fact, “landscape architects dealing (esp. with big names & celebs) said they are seeing nondisclosure agreements hit their desk like never before.” Why might that be? We’re told “the superrich seek privacy in their horticultural endeavors.” Quite. Maybe translated: “The superrich celebrities who make their millions off of common consumers while telling them to be charitable citizens want to keep their hypocritical life style under wraps.” Nothing to sneeze about, even in pollen or tax season.
