Trump & Biden Rough Riders Ala Teddy?
Trump & Biden think of themselves as tough guys & they must be to withstand all the flak they get on campaign trail. But, consider Teddy Roosevelt who took a bullet in the chest yet made 84-minute speech to supporters …
Fox News recalls it was 90 years ago, Oct. 14, 1912, that the nation’s “Bull Moose presidential candidate” was seeking a “comeback” third term as POTUS when NY saloon keeper John Schrank fired a .38 caliber slug in him at point blank range. It was 8:10 pm outside Milwaukee’s Hotel Gilpatrick where a car was about to transport Roosevelt to an auditorium where he’d make one of his famous rabble-rousing speeches. The only thing saving the “Rough Rider” from a pierced heart & instant death was a metal eyeglass case and the 50-page speech rolled up inside his coat pocket. Nevertheless the bullet was lodged in Roosevelt’s chest and his white shirt turned blood red as he insisted on going to his planned event & delivering his speech to an awe-struck crowd.
Now, THAT is tough … as well as rough. Mr. Trump wanting to testify before the Jan. 6 Cte, the NY Times says, so long as the verbal assault on him is televised might also add to his “muscular image” he’s supposedly cultivates. So would Mr. Biden’s promising Russian President Putin the equivalent of “Go ahead and make my day” ala Dirty Harry should nuclear weapons be launched in Ukraine.
