Trump’s 100 Days to Hell & Back

First One Hundred Days of Trump II saw soaring achievements on border control & expensive regulations cut even deeper than popular tax proposals. Yet did No. 47’s “tariff & EO tsunami” help trigger a self-inflicted defeat out of jaws of total victory to the delight of Dems & MSM allies? Is a "reset" possible?

WSJ columnist Kimberley Strassel suggests as much as the April 30th 100 day anniversary looms in her “Trump’s 100-Day Opportunity." She writes: “The opening two months of this administration were mold-breaking, the policy equivalent of shock & awe. Day after relentless day, his team flooded the zone with new policy directives and reforms – cutting waste, killing regulations, imposing accountability. The initiatives were a mix of considered and chaotic, but they mostly benefited from having the feel of creative destruction – something voters, weary of Washington waste & indolence, were happy to see … Not so much now. The past month has seen the Trump team on the back foot, and it’s mostly self-inflicted … It was Mr. Trump who decided to turn the threat of tariffs (a powerful negotiating tool) into a real, live bomb and the center of his economic policy – rather than his powerful deregulatory actions, his economy-boosting tax cuts or his promising plan to make America the world’s energy powerhouse."

Concludes Kim: “The result: daily market swoops & swoons, daily economic warnings [and] speculation as to the fate of Fed Chairman. It was the president’s team that chose to elevate deportations into a standoff with the judiciary, giving Dems their new ‘due process’ mantra.” Yet, she argues, all Trump needs for a “reset” is to get back to & refocus on his applauded “promises made, promises kept” theme during the campaign along with “tamping down his tariff threats,”  ending the Fed Chairman melodrama & waiting patiently for the Supreme Court to (again) override those rogue Dem trial judges trying to stall his reform agenda, which he already appears to have done this past week.
