Trump’s Right Stuff in Burgum & Wright
Trump’s appointment of ND Gov. Doug Burgum to head Interior & industrial CEO Chris Wright to lead Energy promises a US energy Renaissance leading to independence if not global leadership circa Trump 2016.
What a difference a day can make. As the WSJ editors hailed the above appointments, it also opined, “The choices … mean more domestic fossil-fuel production.” Yet, the marching orders as well as combined backgrounds of both men also suggests, perhaps ironically, a renewed surge in nuclear as well as green energy initiatives, but without the fearmongering, woke mandates and delusional goal posts.
As the WSJ op ed noted, “Mr. Burgum leads the 3rd-largest oil producing state and one of the country’s top wind producers … he now runs the major fracking contractor Liberty Energy.” Trump has also promised Burgum will lead a new National Energy Council that will be comprised of federal agencies involved in energy permitting, production & regulation aka overseeing “the US path to ENERGY DOMINANCE by cutting red tape, enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the economy.” Also expect the repeal of the Biden Era rope a dope/pause/ban on government land leasing for purposes of drilling and/or fracking for oil/natural gas. Wright at Energy, meanwhile, will “manage a sprawling bureaucracy that oversees the country’s nuclear weapons, 17 national labs, energy loan program & LNG (liquified natural gas) exports.” In the same vein, Wright could order a top-down review of the agency’s $400 billion in loans to green projects authorized by the misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act”. Trump 1.0 needed only a little more than 2 years to gain energy independence. With Burgum & Wright, Trump 2.0 has the right stuff for an encore performance.
