Ukraine For The Want Of An F-16

Always fierce in defending Motherland & oft-weak at invading others, is it best to leave Russian Bear alone licking its Wagner wounds … yet keep quietly helping Ukraine save it from Putin’s itchy claws? BTW, where are the F-16s?

As the WSJ ‘s “Russia’s Internal Rebellion,” the editors noted the obvious that “Putin survives in power, but Prigozhin’s revolt reveals the Ukraine war’s failure.” Yet, was it THAT big of a surprise given Russia’s earlier 10-yr debacle (before the US debacle) in Afghanistan? Didn’t history already tell us it’s one thing for the Cossacks to defeat an invading Charles XII, Napoleon & Hitler, but another for the vodka-loving Dancing Bears to venture in imperialistic rolls of the dice?

Yet, again, we’re told “Putin’s failed attempt to conquer Ukraine has weakened Russia & sapped its military strength.” In the end, the latest Russian “nationalist endeavor to protect itself from a Western threat that didn’t exist” was maybe a foregone conclusion, that is, so long as the UKRANIANS fought like bears to defend their own homeland. But, as in the American War of Independence, French financial & military aid was key to outlasting the British & ultimate victory. Ditto during the USA’s “lend lease” program favoring the English during the “Battle of Britain” versus the Nazis. Would history say those were relatively “small prices for the “West” to pay” for so much good subsequently done in the world”?
