US Firms Staying In China With Brown Noses?

Fox says powerhouse defense firms Raytheon, Bell Flight & Boeing “maintain relationships” in China, while Am Law says some US Law Firms are pulling up stakes there cause of risks aka Communist gamesmanship.

It’s the age-old struggle between greed & common sense. Despite today’s mistrust & even open hostility between the US & PRC, American companies remain dazzled by the massive Chinese markets & corruption opportunities; so, many refuse to give up what little access they have to them. Many will learn how the grifter is easily grifted by the ultimate grifters as they stay in Communist China to keep getting fleeced. Isaac Stone Fish, CEO & founder of China risk consultancy warned, “Doing a relatively significant amount of business in China changes the risk profile now more than ever for any US company, whether for compliance, cyber, reputation, security or other risks.”

Tell me about it. In my day, I helped 3 international law firms on the PR side to launch new offices in Communist China. The China First, bureaucratic ass-kissing, red tape, now you see it, now you don’t run arounds, and weird “fees” for getting answers let alone weird “licenses” just to do business was, to put it mildly, extraordinary. Bottom line: You are at the Communists’ mercy. You have to ask yourself, “Is it worth it?” Those American lawyers said, “no mass.” No wonder.
