What’s To Like About These Hate Maps?

News of a conservative watchdog group launching “Hate Map’ to track ‘political violence by leftist organizations’ sounds reasonable until we remember the excesses of liberal Southern Poverty Law Center blacklisting Ben Carson as a hater.

Sad but true, at least, according to the civil rights group’s critics, including the WSJ. Those let down by the SPLC say that, after years of great social justice work, it degenerated into partisan political fundraising & cancel culture attack dog. Those familiar conservative names & groups supposedly dangerous to society in its “Hate Map” include not only Ben Carson, but Dennis Prager, Franklin Graham, The Heritage Foundation, The Federalist Society, the Catholic Medical Assn, Homeschool Legal Defense Association, European Center for Law & Justice, Ruth Institute, First Liberty Institute, The Leadership Institute, Liberty Counsel, Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission & the Pacific Justice Institute.

As with the devil himself, the details on all that followed does matter. Right now, The New Tolerance Campaign insists its “interactive map” will be an “unbiased” tool for folks to track instances of political violence “perpetrated by leftist organizations” in the U.S. The NTC president Gregory Angelo told Fox News this Hate Map will include “organizations & individuals across the country on the left who are promoting, inspiring and, in some cases, directly engaging in physical violence against those with whom they disagree.” And, there’s the rub: Who decides Who? That’s how the SPLC’s Hate Map started, then, turned into an absurdity that gives more bum steers than a cattle rustler. Ben Carson a right-wing extremist? Franklin Graham?
