Window Into Maxwell’s Million $ Defense Bill?

Having worked 17 yrs for 3 white shoes firms repping assorted con artists, I’m thinking Ghislaine Maxwell being sued by her lawyers for huge fees opens a window into how these “relationships” work or not in halls of justice...

Or, maybe “justice” has nothing to do with it? In this case, $878K in legal fees is taking center stage as Fox relates how a law firm that repped Maxwell – “associate” of the late disgraced Jeffrey Epstein – is now suing her and her family members for that “unpaid” amount for services dating back to 2015. Specifically, Denver’s Haddon, Morgan & Foreman (Who?) recently filed a complaint against Maxwell, her husband and her brother alleging the defense firm is owed all that money and is tired of waiting. As Fox reports, the lawsuit maintains Maxwell had put her brother Kevin in charge of handling the legal fees accruing for the defending against the 2015 civil case brought by Epstein accuser Virginia Guiffre and continuing through her criminal trial in NY federal court. Apparently a “portion” of the fees charged by the firm were paid by Kev at the start, but stopped, especially after the defense LOST and the Maxwells demanded an appeal. Ghislaine, btw, was convicted for sex trafficking & sentenced to 20 yrs in the can. So the Maxwells thought they were entitled to an appeal on the house? Maybe. But, win or lose, that’s not how law firms work.

All we know from Fox is the Maxwells are sort of pointing the finger at one another as to what the fee arrangements were & to what extent Ghislaine’s “estate” would be made available to the suing law firm. Does the “retainer” agreement spell this out? One thing to bank on: HM&F will likely be about $1 million richer when the dust settles.
